Cancer is a serious disease that severely impairs human health. The center for cancer research combines the basic and translational research of life science with the clinical medicine, applies the advanced scientific theories and technologies such as multi-omicsand big data, genetics and epigenetics, molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry and structural biology, pathology and pathophysiology, immunology and pharmacology, and oncology, to study the causes and pathogenesis of tumors, seek new tumor markers and the targets of antitumor drug, establish the new technologies for tumor screening and early diagnosis, research innovative anti-tumor drugs and new technologies for immunotherapy, and provide new scientific basis, technology and products for tumor prevention and diagnosis and precise treatment. The center was established on June 19, 2012. It is led by professor Lai Maode , who is a member of German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina. It has formed an academic team including Distinguished Young Scholar and Excellent Young Scholar of the National Natural Science Foundation, winners of Thousand Talents Program, and other excellent professors. Relying on the national key disciplines of pathology and pathophysiology, the national key department of clinical pathology, and the key laboratory of disease proteomics of Zhejiang province, the team has taken on a number of major national key programs, including the major projects of National Natural Science Foundation, major projects of National Science and Technology Support Program, National Key Research and Development Projects, and other major national projects. The center has made lots of remarkable research results and have been achieved in many emerging research directions related to cancer.
